relics

Lately I've been listening to almost nothing but Dr. Dog and Delta Spirit. They continue to influence and amaze me every day. Two amazing bands. Go buy both Dr. Dog albums and the 2nd Delta Spirit Album. Its NYCE.
Also, Grand National has been slaying me lately. I really like Kicking the National Habit a lot. The album is very diverse. Ranging from flamboyant brit-pop ("Cherry Tree") to toned-down mellowness ("Peanut Dreams"). Check the faux vinyl sound texture on peanut dreams.

suck on this, danger mouse
I found a truly amazing album today.
I'm not gonna say much. The guy goes by Bullion, and he mixed samples from Pet Sounds (Beach Boys) into a frenzy of hiphopical tropical beatz. The album is dedicated to the sounds and styles of J Dilla (aka Jay Dee), who passed away last year. It's refreshing and fun, and I suspect it will launch Bullion's career as a producer.

So, why am I up this late? I was late for work yesterday, and felt out of it all damn day. I keep losing a day somehow during the workweek. I could have sworn today was Wednesday...

friday morning skit
I've been busy like WOAH this week, no lie, my friends. I am very happy that it's friday, and I hope you are too. To celebrate, here's a skit about Larry Craig. Great editing, funny shit. Next week'll be pimp-tight fo shizzy.
BONUS:
Check out STEAK, an upcoming french film thats REALLY FUCKING WEIRD. The soundtrack is deliciously dorky and I have yet to find anyone to truly admire it as much as I have. Is that person YOU?????

letsgetcrunk&listentoelectrofunk
CSS has been around for quite some time, but I was too stubborn to get into their first single. Based on the countless recommendations I've received from others... by damn, I'll give them another chance.

CSS - Hey Mr. DJ (remix) [mp3 download]
So far this is the first one to truly catch my.. uh.. ear? It's a remix of Hey Mr. DJ-- a song by the Tiny Masters of the Today. These prepubescent indie punksters are truly getting the royal treatment by CSS-- turning their groundwork into a 80s synth-laden electro-pop dance hit.
The above image is from one of the best purchases I've made so far this year: BEASTS! The book is a reference for pretty much any popular monster or ghoulie that you could possibly think of... with everything from Succubus to Vampire (above). Each beast is depicted by a different artist, and they are all full, rich, deliciously creative illustrations. I highly recommend for your Halloween reading.
In other news, today is my last day interning at IdFive. On Monday I will be starting full-time with DesignByFive, a print design firm that is the parent company to IdFive. They work almost exclusively as DeutscheBank's graphic design department. I am very excited to officially start my life in the real world, get paid, and get my own apartment!
